ABSTRACT

"Designing Reef Aquarium Systems - Thwarting Murphy's Laws"

Murphy's Law - "If anything can go wrong it will" has been the bane of many an aquarist.  A sound approach to reef systems design can go a long way in reducing the impact of things going wrong.  Drawing from the author's experiences in keeping reef aquariums and techniques developed for other large scale mechanical, electrical and software systems, this presentation will focus on good aquarium system design principles, and systematic methodology to understand and evaluate the costs, benefits, tradeoffs and risks with various
system design options.
